COMPUTER SYSTEM

  1. Input Unit
  2. Output Unit
  3. Processor

  1. Control Unit
  2. Arithemetic and Logic Unit
  3. Registers

  1. Data Bus
  2. Address Bus
  3. Control Bus

  1. Primary Memory
  2. Secondary Memory

These parts are interconnected by busses, often made of groups of wires.Inside each of these parts are thousands to trillions of small electrical circuits which can be turned off or on by means of an electronic switch. Each circuit represents a bit of information so that when the circuit is on it represents a "1", and when off it represents a "0". The circuits are arranged in logic gates so that one or more of the circuits may control the state of one or more of the other circuits.

  • Input Unit:

Data and instructions must be entered in to the computer system before any computation performed in the computer. This task of entering data is done by the units called input devices that link the external environment with the computer system. An input device must provide with data that are transformed into the binary codes. That the primary memory of the computer is designed to accept. This transformation is performed by the unit called input interfaces. The example of Input devices are: keyboard, Mouse, microphone etc
  • Output Unit:

Output units accept the result processed by the computer which are in coded form and hence cannot be understood by us easily. Before supplying the obtained result, it converts these codes in human acceptable form and supplies the converted result to the outside world. In another word, an output unit performs reverse operation of the input units. Output devices are used to result processed by the computer to the outside world.
  • processor:

The control unit and the arithmetic logic unit of a computer are jointly known as central processing unit. The CPU is the brain of the computer. In a computer system, all the major operations and comparisons are made inside the cpu and the CPU is responsible for activating and controlling the operations of other units.
    It consists of the following:
  1. Storage Unit:

  2. Control Unit:

  3. Arithmetic Logic Units:
